The Castle Rock Ridge (CRR) Wind Farm Connection was part of an area transmission development called the Southern Alberta Transmission Reinforcement (SATR). The CRR substation interconnected the Enel Green Power Wind Farm to the grid allowing 76MW of green energy to reach customers in Alberta.
The CRR substation consisted of the assembly and erection of three 240 kV circuit breakers; three sets of 240 kV current and capacitive voltage transformers; two 240 kV motor operated and six manual operated disconnect switches; and all associated protection & control and SCADA systems. CANA also expanded the existing Goose Lake substation as part of the scope of work. This work included four 240 kV circuit breakers; four sets of 240 kV current transformers; three 240 kV capacitive voltage transformers; two 240 kV motor operated and seven manual operated disconnect switches; and all associated protection & control and SCADA systems.
CANA High Voltage was contracted to perform the construction and testing & commissioning for the new substation and the expansion at Goose Lake substation.
