As a Calgary based company, CANA High Voltage is dedicated to the growth and development of the community in which we live and work.
CANA’s Owner and Chairman, John Simpson, is committed to supporting the Calgary community and is involved in many local organizations. John’s commitment is reflected in his approach to business. CANA’s senior management staff are encouraged to take an active role in the Calgary construction community and offer their time to charitable associations and organizations that help stimulate the growth and development of our city. CANA’s office and field staff are also encouraged to contribute to charitable causes and get involved in the community.
CANA is committed to community development, as well as environmental protection and sustainability.
We take pride in supporting the following initiatives and other local charities:
The Simpson Family Endowment was established in 1988 with the purpose of launching the Graduate Program in Physical Education for two years and then initiating the operation of the Sport Medicine Centre by supporting research, teaching and administrative activities. The Simpson family made an initial donation to the University of Calgary of $1,000,000 that was matched by the province of Alberta Capital Matching program. With continued interest on the initial investment, the Simpson Family Endowment is now worth over $5,000,000 in support of the University’s Faculty of Kinesiology. The University’s gymnasium is actually named after the late Jack Simpson.
The endowment has also supported students, graduates and research technicians by financing research/ fellowship programs and the purchase of medical and scientific research equipment. The interest of the endowment has also been instrumental in supporting the basic and applied research activities of the Roger Jackson Centre for Health and Wellness.
CANA also donated $2,000,000 to fund the Faculty of Medicine Simpson Ranch Chair in Beef Health and Wellness.
CANA is an ongoing supporter of the scholarship program at SAIT Polytechnic, providing annual donations to the Project Management group. Our scholarship assists students who are excelling in their program and demonstrate the strong leadership skills that our industry is looking for in future graduates.
CANA and the Simpson family are proud supporters of the Kids Cancer Care Foundation and have made donations to the organization in support of the construction of Camp Kindle. Since the completion of the Camp Kindle project, CANA continues to provide support to the Kids Cancer Care Foundation by matching donations made by our employees, as well as with regular contributions to the organization.
CANA High Voltage is proud to be involved with the Calgary Flames Foundation, which supports initiatives that bring positive change to the lives of southern Albertans through health, education and grassroots sports programs. We are proud to support this important foundation that promotes and supports amateur sports, rink renovations, the Ronald McDonald House and other important local organizations.
CANA High Voltage is a proud supporter of the Mustard Seed and Brenda’s House, a transitional home for homeless families. Over several years our generous contributions to the organizations have allowed them to serve thousands of meals to those in need. Each Christmas season, CANA employees volunteer their time to prepare and serve meals at the Mustard Seed.
CANA High Voltage is proud of being an annual platinum sponsor of the St. John’s Ambulance Run and Walk for Life since 2013. The Run and Walk for Life supports St. John’s mission to improve the quality of life for Albertans through First Aid training and community services. Proceeds from the sponsorship are invested into the St. John’s Ambulance volunteer program.
